Lake Catholic had a second quarter touchdown to leave the game tied 7-7 at half.
Mooney came alive in the third quarter. After a strong defensive series to force a punt, quarterback Jon Saadey found Handel on a crossing route. Handel went 39 yards before being tackled at about the ten-yard line.
CJ Amil capped that drive with a three-yard touchdown run to give Mooney a 14-7 lead.
The defense held the rest of the way and Zak Kennedy booted a field goal with 6:54 remaining in the fourth quarter to finish the scoring.
Mooney improves to 3-2. The Cards travel to Lakewood to face Lakewood St. Ed’s next Saturday at 7 pm.
