4 in W. Pa. charged with abuse of toddler

ROCHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Four people have been charged with severely abusing or neglecting a 13-month-old boy in western Pennsylvania.

Authorities say the boys’ parents, Christian Evans, 20, and Amanda Riley, 21, of Rochester, were arraigned Monday. That’s about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Police say Riley claimed the boy fell from a stroller, but doctors say the serious injuries he suffered couldn’t happen that way. The boy’s grandmother alerted authorities.

Riley lives in a home with Nicolas Hrvoich, 26, and both of them face felony assault charges. His mother, Kimberly Hrvoich, 59, was charged with endangering the child’s welfare, as was Evans, the father.

Riley, Evans and the Hrvoich’s are being held in Beaver County jail, unable to post bond. No attorney was listed on court papers.
