Tea celebrates survival

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Junior League of Youngstown celebrated breast cancer survivors Monday with its 19th annual Pink Ribbon Tea at the Georgetown on South Avenue in Boardman.

Over the years, the event has welcomed thousands of local survivors to the luncheon. This year, the Junior League welcomed nationally recognized author and breast cancer survivor Jennie Nash.

“We don’t have a cure for cancer yet. We’re not there yet. Hopefully, we’re on our way, but until we get there, the next best thing to not having it at all is having other women surround you and be with you,” said Nash.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
