Northeast Ohio man hit by turning school bus dies

CANTON, Ohio (AP) — Police in northeast Ohio say a school bus carrying students home struck a pedestrian, and he died hours later at a hospital.

Investigators say the 56-year-old man was hit as the bus was making a left turn on Tuesday afternoon in Canton.

Police Capt. Jack Angelo tells The Repository (http://bit.ly/1bquQu9 ) the local man suffered head and abdominal injuries.

A Canton schools spokeswoman says the seven middle school students on the bus weren’t hurt. They were taken home by a second bus.

Authorities planned to inspect the bus from the collision on Wednesday. Angelo says the case will be sent to the city prosecutor for consideration of possible charges.
