Fans can see Pirates on big TV outside PNC Park

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates are erecting a 15-by-20-foot television screen outside PNC Park so fans can watch the opening game of the National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Thursday’s series opener begins at 5:07 p.m. Pittsburgh time, but Federal Street and the Roberto Clemente Bridge outside the ballpark were scheduled to close to traffic by 10 a.m. so fans can gather to party and watch the game.

This season marks the first time in 21 years the Pirates have made the playoffs. The National Hockey League’s Pittsburgh Penguins have drawn thousands of fans to watch road playoff games in recent years on a big-screen TV near their arena, the Consol Energy Center.

Temperatures were forecast to be in the low 80s at game time.
