BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Poland school teacher and her husband have been arrested in connection to a purse snatching outside a Boardman business.
Irene Consiglio, 46, of Canfield, was charged with complicity to robbery, fleeing and eluding and failure to comply after allegedly driving the getaway car after a robbery Tuesday outside the Sandwich Factory on Market Street.
Reports indicate Consiglio is a Poland Middle School special education teacher.
Consiglio’s husband, Frank Consiglio, 45, also of Canfield, was charged with robbery, drug possession and attempting to inflict serious harm on another.
According to police reports, Frank Consiglio attacked a 66-year-old woman in the parking lot outside the Sandwich Factory as she was attempting to unlock her car door. Consiglio pushed the woman to ground and took her purse. He then ran behind the Dairy Queen, where witnesses saw him get into a gray car.
Several people witnessed the attack and called police. Officers pursued the vehicle, driven by Irene Consiglio, down Route 224. An officer stopped the car near Mill Creek Park but as he attempted to approach the vehicle, Consiglio sped off down Route 224 to Lockwood Boulevard where she turned into the Blue Wolf Banquet Center parking lot. At that time, Frank Consiglio jumped out of the car ran off into the woods.
Irene Consiglio was arrested at the scene and released from jail after appearing in court on Thursday.
Frank Consiglio was located and arrested on Thursday. He remains in the Mahoning County Jail.
