WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — There are two new Warren police officers on the force.
Adam Chinchic and Lance Adkins were sworn in Friday on the steps of City Hall by Mayor Doug Franklin and Safety-Service Director Enzo Cantalamessa. Some of the money to pay for the new officers will come from a $250,000 COPS grant the city received. Warren Police Chief Eric Merkel said they will help fill the void left by retirements.
“We are losing some seasoned officers here. Four retirements in 2014, so it’s important that we get these young guys on so we can train them to be the future of the police department,” Merkel said.
The Warren Police Department now has 64 officers, including the chief, which is still well under the 84 number officials say they actually need.
