Comic book fans gather in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN)– Comic book fans gathered in Youngstown Saturday for the fourth annual Lawn-Con.

Lawn-Con was created when a friend of Chris Yambar, the comic book artist, went to a show in Chicago and was overlooked.

So, the two men decided to have their own show, in Chris’s front yard.

Every year fans get the chance to meet some big-name artists, and even some up and coming ones.

Yambar said he enjoys having the free show in Youngstown.

“It is a meet and greet and people tend to have a good time and that is job number one you know what I mean,” said Yambar. “I am thrilled to be able to do this in my front yard, in the beautiful city of Youngstown.”

This year, Lawn-Con partnered with First Book of the Mahoning Valley to try to encourage more kids to read.
