Aquinas too much for Youngstown Christian

Youngstown Christian lost to St. Thomas Aquinas 42-20 Saturday night in high school football.

The Knights got on the scoreboard on their opening drive when Tommy McCauley scored on a one-yard touchdown run, giving Aquinas a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter.

The Eagles answered on their opening offensive possession.  Facing 4th and goal on the four yard line, Paris Bennett found Darien Townsend in the back of the endzone for the touchdown, tying the game 7-7.

But back came Aquinas.  Ja’Lon Humphries plunged in for the five yard touchdown run, pushing the Knights back on top 14-7.

Early in the 2nd quarter, Youngstown Christian got on the scoreboard again.  Bennett connected with Townsend again for a 27 yard touchdown.  They would fail on a fake extra-points and still trail 14-13.

McCauley would run for two more touchdowns in the first half and Aquinas would also return an interception back for a touchdown before intermission.
