Recording studio in U.P. creates music

IRON RIVER, Mich. (AP) — The Upper Peninsula may seem like an unlikely location for a recording studio but the owner of Interpose Productions in Iron River would not have it any other way.

“The U.P. is by far my favorite place I’ve lived,” Seth Waters, who is not even an Iron River native, told WLUC-TV in Marquette ( http://bit.ly/16Z2G0M ).

Waters’ passion for music started early.

“Growing up, my dad just had me playing music since I was a little kid; I remember banging on drums with Lincoln Logs when I was really, really young,” Waters said.

He at one time toured the U.S. performing his music.

“I was playing music as a musician, and it wasn’t until probably in the last five years that I started getting into production,” he said.

Since opening Interpose Productions he has brought in musicians from all over the country.

“The last band I had came up from Arizona,” Waters said.

But it’s more than just bringing in talent from out of state, he said.

“The local talent that is hiding in the Upper Peninsula is unbelievable, and I’ve actually been amazed after living in places like Chicago and southern California,” he said.

He said he has high aspirations for the business.

“The goal, I think, for me since I’ve been involved in the community is twofold: I would love to see Interpose Productions become more successful, and I’d love to be able to hire some employees,” Waters said. “It’s also so rewarding to see how this business has been a benefit to the community.”
