Storm leads to death of man in rural South Dakota

DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) — At least one death is being attributed to the record-breaking snowstorm that hit western South Dakota.

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office says a rural Deadwood resident collapsed while cleaning snow off his roof and later died.

KEVN-TV reports that authorities did not immediately identify the man.

The weekend storm dumped 4 feet of snow near Deadwood.

Black Hills Power says it has restored electricity to more than 15,000 customers in the wake of the weekend storm. The utility says about 14,000 customers remain in the dark.
