Crews battle fire, frigid temps in Lordstown

Lordstown fire

LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Firefighters in Lordstown worked to contain a house fire early Thursday morning, but unfortunately the home was destroyed.

Heavy flames and smoke were reported by a witness about 3:30 a.m. at a home in the 2300 block of Salt Springs Road.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and investigators are working to contact the homeowner.

The frigid temperatures were also hard to battle as firefighters became covered in water and the gear they were wearing began to freeze. Temperatures remained in the single digits early Thursday morning, with wind chills pushing the mercury below zero. For a complete weather forecast, click here.
