Salem chamber honors hospital

SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) — Members of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce honored a number of local businesses Friday afternoon, including a local hospital.

The Chamber held its 67th annual meeting at the Community Center. Among the award winners was Salem Regional Medical Center, which is nearing completion of a $42.5 million construction project to add a three-story patient tower featuring 87 new private rooms.

“They’re recognizing a Large Business of the Year for the first time and it’s because of our facility’s enhancements and our employees and our community, so we’re really honored to have this,” said Salem Regional Medical Center CEO Dr. Anita Hackstedde.

The hospital will hold open houses this weekend, with a dedication and time capsule burial ceremony scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday.
