Balloons launched in memory of slain boy

Balloon launch for Teddy Foltz

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – Family, friends and neighbors gathered in the cold Sunday to launch balloons on the one year anniversary of Teddy Foltz’s death.

Foltz, of Struthers, was just 14-years-old when he died from injuries suffered at the hands of his mother’s boyfriend.

Foltz’s mother, Shain Widdersheim, age 32, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to four counts of child endangering and obstructing justice.

Widdersheim’s boyfriend, Zaryl Bush, age 43, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 33 years for beating Foltz so badly that he died less than a week after the beating.

“No child should live in fear. If you feel you’re being abused in any way, I hope you let somebody know,” said Kelly Plummer, Teddy Foltz’s godmother. “My godson didn’t do that.”

Kelly also said the abuse went on for more than two years, but that each time they asked what was going on, Teddy denied that he was being abused.
