Deadlines loom for student aid

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – If you’re a college student or someone in your home is, you should know some pretty important deadlines are just around the corner.

Youngstown State University’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is once again hosting their annual awareness campaign on campus.

Workers have set up an information table inside Kilcawley Center to pass out literature and answer questions from students and others about the next round of aid that would be available.

“Just as a way for us to reach out to the current students, letting them know it is time to start thinking about that again and offer any assistance with submission of their application and help them with searching for different types of aid,” said Sandy Torres, YSU office of Financial Aid. “You have to apply every year, and applying early is a big key to making sure that you qualify for as much aid as you possibly can.”

Torres said the deadline to file Federal Student Aid applications or FASFA, as well as other forms of assistance, is February 15.

Workers will be available to answer questions each day this week from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
