Semi and car collide on I-80

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN)- A woman was injured and taken to the hospital after the car she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 in Liberty Township.

The accident happened about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the westbound lane of I-80, near the Hubbard exit.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a woman driving a Mercury sedan was traveling westbound in the passing lane when she drifted off the left side of the roadway. She over corrected and hit a tire on the semi. The force of the crash forced the Mercury into the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the semi did not appear injured. She was cited for the crash.

Traffic was backed up for about 30 minutes as crews worked to clear the scene.
