Driver slams into pole in Boardman

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – It was a brutal wake-up call for a driver in Boardman Wednesday night

Police said a man in his 20s went left of center in his Ford Explorer and hit a utility pole on the corner of Route 224 and Hitchcock Road.

Witnesses said the man was swerving before hitting the pole. Officers on the scene said the man was suspected of being drunk.

The car sustained heavy damage and crews had to cut the man out of the vehicle.

He was taken to Saint Elizabeth Health Center with minor injuries.
