The Hickory Hornets are sending a pair to Duquense University next fall. Quarterback Matt Voytik and linebacker Daulton Linton have both given their verbal commitment to coach Jerry Schmitt and the Dukes’ program.  Hickory’s coach Bill Brest says that the duo will sign their National Letters-of-Intent on Wednesday, February 5.

This past season, Hickory advanced to the PIAA Class AA Western Final where they fell to the eventual state champion South Fayette, 23-20.  Voytik completed 61.6% of his passes (125-203) for 2108 yards and 27 touchdowns. Linton finished with 145 tackles (93 solo) with 2 interceptions and 5.5 quarterback takedowns. The year prior, Daulton had 96 tackles.

Duquense completed the 2013 season with a 7-4 mark. The Dukes have had two head coaches since 1993 and have finished with a winning record in 17 of their last 20 seasons.  Coach Jerry Schmitt is entering his 10th year.
