Crews respond to fire in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) — The investigation continues into a business fire Friday night in New Castle.

The call came in about 8:30 p.m. to Ellwood A Realty Co., 40 Furnace St., for reports of a structure fire.

According to New Castle Fire Department report, refractory ceramic insulation was on fire and flames reached to the ceiling. Crews had to cut holes in the roof to battle the blaze.

Damage to the building is estimated at $200,000. There is about $20,000 in lost contents.

Fire personnel was on the scene for about five hours.

Also responding were crews from Shenango, Mahoning, South New Castle and Taylor.

No one was injured and the cause is under investigation.
