YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — It took two tries, but police arrested a West Side couple Friday afternoon in connection to the rape of a young relative.
Mahoning County Sheriff’s deputies and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force went to 523 Mona Lane near Chaney High School about 4 p.m. to arrest Michael Lewis, 50, and Alandra Lewis, 35, who were indicted Thursday by a Mahoning County grand jury. After about an hour of knocking on the door and shouting for them to come out, police determined the suspects were not home and left.
They returned several hours later and took them into custody.
Michael Lewis is charged with 10 counts of felony rape that each carry a life prison sentence. Alandra Lewis is charged with one felony count of endangering children.
According to the indictment, Michael Lewis engaged in sexual conduct with a female relative from October 2009 to October 2013 when the girl was between 9 and 12 years old.
Alandra Lewis is charged for failing to report the incidents.
They had not not yet been booked into the Mahoning County Jail as of 8:30 p.m. Friday.
