Pavlik collapses in court

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Moments before his scheduled pretrial Friday on theft charges, Kelly Pavlik had what court officials are calling a “seizure” in the courtroom.

The former middleweight boxing champion was taken away from Canfield Municipal Court by ambulance to the hospital.  He was reportedly awake and alert.

Pavlik was scheduled to appear for a hearing Friday on charges that he allegedly failed to pay for a $25 cab ride last September.

In a WKBN First News interview with Pavlik in July, he said the seizures had plagued him for some time and was one of the reasons he retired from boxing.
