Pedestrian killed in Southington

SOUTHINGTON, Ohio (WKBN) – Troopers from the Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal pedestrian traffic crash.

The crash occurred at 10:15 p.m. Jan. on U.S. Route 422, just east of state Route 305 in Southington Township.

Helen M. Washtock,  44, of Cleveland,  was the pedestrian. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Washtock was walking eastbound on Route 422 in the roadway and was subsequently struck by a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe which was traveling eastbound.

The driver, a Niles woman, has not been charged as the investigation continues.

Drug and alcohol results are pending toxicology.

Washtock is the third person to be killed in a traffic crash in Trumbull County in 2014.
