Cookie shop opens at library

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Austintown branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County welcomed a new tenant this weekend.

One Hot Cookie opened its doors on Saturday. The boutique bakery has another location at the Erie Terminal in downtown Youngstown.

The owners thought a second location would bring in a different clientele.

“We opened at this library because it’s such a heavily populated library, so much traffic comes through here, so many kids come here for after-school programs to wait for their parents and we really thought this would be a good way to reach a new demographic and get a whole new customer base for our cookies,” said One Hot Cookie owner Elizabeth Koontz.

Library officials said the space where the business is located has been empty for years.
