LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A production company from Florida wants to feature Lordstown on a national stage.
USM Studios in Coral Springs, Fla., plans to highlight the village as one of its “Communities of Distinction” in an upcoming video that will air across the country. Lordstown Mayor Arno Hill isn’t sure who first contacted USM Studios about producing the five-minute segment highlighting Lordstown as one of America’s “best places to live, work, play and visit.”
“I got a call and we were recommended by somebody and you know, I do feel we are one of the best places to live, work and play,” Hill said.
Village Council passed an agreement Monday night to pay a $19,800 scheduling fee to USM and Communities of Distinction. Village officials will work with the company to develop a script and sign off on the final edited segment.
The video will be hosted by former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Fox Sports commentator and part-time actor Terry Bradshaw. Hill said it will be shown one time on Fox Business News, and then 19 other regional markets.
“It’d be a good promotional video for our community,” Hill said.
Residents said they are eager to show off their village when camera crews come to town sometime this spring or summer.
“Our fire department, our police department are excellent. And it’s just really a nice, safe place. It gives you a good feeling,” Richard Coe said.
“We do have an excellent rec program. We have excellent safety forces. I believe we are going to be big as far as with the Space Center, and the development to bring jobs around,” Hill said.
Once the piece airs regionally and nationally, it can be posted to the village website and used as a marketing and economic development tool for years to come.
“Who nominated us? I don’t know. Bet hey, thank you,” Hill said.
