Pedestrian hit in Lawrence County

MAHONING TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WKBN) – A Lawrence County man was hit and killed as he was attempting the cross the road in Mahoning Township Tuesday evening.

According to police, Edward Minteer, 62, of Edinburg, was attempting to cross Benjamin Franklin Highway, just east of Route 551, when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Ardell Biddle, 58, of Pulaski.

Minteer was pronounced dead at Saint Elizabeth Health Center.

Police said Minteer was returning to his home on Benjamin Franklin Highway, but it is not clear why he left.

The accident closed both lanes of U.S. Route 422 in Mahoning Township in Lawrence County for several hours.

WKBN First News was told Minteer was a resident of the Cedar Manor Personal Care home which is located on Benjamin Franklin Highway.
