(Boardman, Oh) JP Clendenin scored with 5:27 left in overtime, as the Canfield Cardinals skated to a 3-2 victory over Aurora on senior night at the Ice Zone.
Danny Drotleff skated behind the net and pushed a pass in front while Clendenin won a battle of bodies to knock the puck in.
Canfield (3-13) fell behind 2-0 early in the second period, until Pete Crescimanno put the Cards on the board with 7:12 left in the period. In the third period, Patick Byrne made several key saves to keep the Cards in it, and fittingly, senior Nick Crescimanno skated the length of the ice and wrapped the puck in to tie it with 6:30 left in regulation.
Steve Sansoterra picked up an assist in the win and Byrne saved 16 shots. The Cards registered 23 shots on goal.
Canfield will take on Mentor Lake Catholic Sunday, February 16, 2p.m. in the Kent sectional tournament.
