5 injured in Mercer County crash

Findley Township, Pa. (WKBN) – One man was severely injured and four others moderately injured when their car went off the road early Sunday morning.

According to a report from the Mercer post of the Pennsylvania State Police, Dondi Kirby Jr., 20, of Monroeville, Pa., was speeding north on Interstate 79 about 12:15 a.m. when he lost control.

The vehicle – a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu – slipped sideways off the road and struck a guardrail – taking out about 30 feet of the rail.

At least three of the passengers were ejected, according to the post.

Also in the car were: Devantae Butler, 20, of Monroeville; Jared Harris, 20, of Swissvale; Raheem Cathie, 21, of Pittsburgh; and Gregory Coleman, 20, of Monroeville.

Neither Kirby nor the passengers were wearing seat belts, according to the report.

Kirby was charged with driving at an unsafe speed.
