Engler owes $167,000 to IRS

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Attorney David Engler, who is running for a seat on the 7th District Court of Appeals, owes a large sum of money to the Internal Revenue Service.

According to documents on file with the Mahoning County Recorders’ office, Engler has a number of outstanding liens against him from the IRS totaling nearly $167,000.

Last week, when Engler filed his petitions to run, our station reported that a garnishment order was filed against him because he owes more than $11,000 to the Ohio Department of Taxation.

Engler said Tuesday afternoon that he is working to resolve the issue with the IRS, but is disputing the amount he actually owes.
