Students continue culinary tradition

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A tasty tradition continues at the Warren Family Mission with the help of culinary students.

Twenty three students at the Trumbull Career and Technical Center served up lunch Tuesday to everyone at the facility.

On the menu was a full traditional Thanksgiving dinner just in time for Valentine’s Day.

“TCTC is very big on community service and giving back to the community, and I think it is very important for teenagers to learn that and to have that instilled in them so that they continue when they become adults,” said Brigette Gillies, culinary instructor.

The yearly tradition offers the high school students hands-on experience plus a way to help others who are less fortunate.

“It helps everybody out here with their people skills, and it helps us back here with our mass cooking and quantity cooking,” said Brittany Reno, senior at TCTC.

Students at TCTC also collect money each year at Christmas so they can donate toys to kids at the mission.
