YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Youngstown State University students learned Wednesday about internship and prospective job opportunities that might await them this summer.
The College of STEM and Williamson College of Business Administration hosted the Spring 2014 Co-op and Internship Expo.
Approximately 30 companies were on hand to meet with students from both colleges, including software companies, players in the steel industry, and state or federal agencies. This is the second year for the expo, and organizers said last year’s event already has led to a few hires.
“Some of them have been extended offers upon graduation and they’re not graduating until this coming May, so that goes to show you just from an experience in the summertime, it was very beneficial, not only for the student but for the employer,” said internship expo coordinator Sherri Hrusovski.
Many YSU students left resumes and thank-you notes with companies at the expo in hopes of securing an internship or co-op opportunity this summer.
