Busy weekend at Fellows Gardens

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – It was a packed house at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Youngstown Saturday morning.

The Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown hosted its annual winter seminar. This year’s theme was four seasons of color.

Speakers from Boston, Philadelphia and Oregon were on hand to lend their expertise, and the Cleveland Botanical Gardens also took part by talking about how to container garden all year round.

“When you think about in our home gardens, we plant containers for summer and perhaps fall, but he is talking about in addition that with spring and winter too,” said Lynn Hoffman, Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown. “We will see some interesting containers.”

This is the ninth year for the winter seminar. The event is so popular there is a waiting list to attend.

The annual Twice Loved Book Sale is also happening at the gardens this weekend.

Plenty of magazines and books are available to browse through and purchase.

Proceeds benefit the Antonucci Horticulture Library, which is where the sale is taking place.

The book sale runs through the Feb. 23. The library is closed on Monday.
