YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A big screen movie producer wants to bring Hollywood to Youngstown.
Valley native Fred D’Amico co-produced “The Power of the Few,” starring Christopher Walken and Christina Slater. Saturday, he re-released the film at two venues in Youngstown: The McDonough Museum of Art and Roberto’s Italian Ristorante on West Federal Street.
Screenings are scheduled for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the McDonough Museum of Art and at 10 p.m. at Roberto’s Italian Ristorante.
D’Amico wants to see companies shoot their films in Youngstown and is not giving up trying to encourage Hollywood to utilize the area. He recounts how long it took to get “The Power of the Few” shot and produced.
“People called it a pipe dream, but I have a feeling that the pipe dream is not the oil pipes, but this is the right pipeline which is a sustainable industry where hair, makeup, art department, construction, production managing, talent and camera work together,” said D’Amico.
D’Amico is currently working on a movie in Columbus. He is offering two supporting roles that include five to 10 speaking lines. Those parts will be selected by raffle during the local screenings of “The Power of the Few.” D’Amico is also casting for extras to fill a ballroom scene.
