Frozen hydrant causes problems for Youngstown fire

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The freezing temperatures made it hard to fight a fire on Youngstown’s east side this evening– because the fire hydrant outside the home was frozen!

This pile of rubble is all that’s left of the house on Landsdsowne Avenue.

The fire started about 6:30 p.m.

When firefighters got there– they realized pretty quickly that they weren’t going to be able to use the fire hydrant to put out the flames.

They trucked water in– and then had to use it to keep the flames away from houses on either side of it.

No one was hurt.
