Failed car thefts cause headache for auto dealer

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) — Police in Liberty Township are investigating a break-in at a used car dealership.

It happened sometime over the weekend at the Lil J Auto Sales on Belmont Avenue. Police said someone broke inside and took all the keys to the cars in the lot.

The thieves tried to steal the cars, but when the cars wouldn’t start, they threw the keys in the parking lot. Workers and police were combing the snow Monday morning looking for the keys.

The owner of the dealership, Azzedine Jidi, said the keys to 50 cars were stolen, and 45 were found. He hopes to find the remaining five when the snow in the parking lot melts.

Jidi also said that if they had to replace all the keys, they would be out of business.
