Proposed cure for Valley boredom

My City Hangouts

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Ever feel like there’s nothing to do in Youngstown?

Chances are you just don’t know what all is out there. And that’s what the creators of a new app are hoping to fix.

My City Hangouts gives people a one-stop-shop for restaurants, entertainment and activities in Youngstown.

The app is free and geared toward locally owned businesses. Creators Jeremy Morales and Dan Mir want to encourage people to spend their money here in the Valley and help customers save money at the same time.

“They’ll throw in a gift card. You’ll get a $5 or $10 gift card or 10 to 15 percent off your bill by just showing the app to your waiter or one of the managers,” said Morales.

The app triggers mobile GPS navigation to help find businesses close by. All contact information about the business is in the app.

“The phone number is built into it. You hit the call button and you can call them directly from there. Hours, specials, what they have to offer are also included,” said Mir.

You can find My City Hangouts in the App Store and in Google play.

Business owners interested in being included in the app can email Mir and Morales at

There are currently 140 businesses on the app.
