Eatery teams up with ACH

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A local eatery is supporting Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley in a big way.

Executives from Eat n’ Park presented hospital representatives with a $15,795 check at the restaurant in Austintown on Wednesday.

The donation represents the total raised during the annual Caring for Kids Campaign, a five-week fundraising effort held during the holiday season at all Mahoning Valley area Eat ‘n Park restaurants.

This year, $15,795 will be contributed locally to Akron Children’s Hospital of the Mahoning Valley and $6,800 will be contributed to Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron.

“The most important aspect of the campaign is that so many families will now be receiving the help that they need,” said Trina DeMarco, Director of Corporate Giving and Community Partnerships, Eat’n Park Hospitality Group. “We are thrilled with how much we will be able to give back to the community this year, thanks to the generosity of Eat’n Park’s guests, team members, and partners.”

Fundraising events varied by location and included “Tips for Tots” nights, raffles, prizes, games and more.  Over the past five years, more than $65,000 has been raised for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley through the Eat ‘n Park Caring for Kids Campaign.

“All of the dollars raised for the Caring for Kids campaign goes to support our non-reimbursed programs and services charity care. It’s one of Akron Children’s founding promises that no child is ever turned away for any reason, including inability to pay and so fundraisers like this really help us to keep that promise to the children in the community,” said JoAnn Stock of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.

More than $400,000 was raised last year across Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia during the 35th annual Caring for Kids Campaign, and more than $8.5 million since the fundraising event began in 1979.
