County moving forward on new hotel project

Trumbull County Commissioners to vote on 2015 budget

LIBERTY, Ohio (WKBN) – Trumbull County Commissioners are now waiting for an answer from the state of Ohio on whether a new hotel can be built in Liberty Township.

Commissioners approved a 49 percent, 10-year tax abatement agreement in January for an 87-suite hotel on Belmont Avenue. The agreement has now been sent on to the Ohio Development Services Agency for approval.

Developers are planning to build a $6.5 million Comfort Inn at the site of the old Ramada Inn in what is now the Belmont Avenue Reinvestment area.

The property has been vacant since the Ramada Inn was demolished in 2008.
