Hearing aids needed for mission trip

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – You can aid in the gift of hearing and help improve serious hearing loss for those in need.

The Center for Hearing Care in Boardman is in need of donations for used hearing aids for an upcoming mission trip.

Staff and associates of the hearing center along with Rotary members are traveling to the nation of Dominica in March. The audiology professionals will provide hearing health care to the island residents.

Over the past two years, 400 people have benefited from the outreach program and more than 150 hearing aids have been donated.

“This tiny little island that we visit has no hearing services whatsoever. No audiologists, no hearing aids, no access at all,” said Dr. Sheryl Figliano. “If you think about it, it’s quite remarkable that this little team from Ohio goes down and supplies the entire island with hearing services.”

The Center for Hearing Care collects donations of hearing aids year round. They offer two programs locally for those in need.
