Columbiana rolls with balanced attack

The Columbiana girls used a quick start and balanced scoring to knock off Youngstown Christian, 62-39, in a Division IV Sectional Final Saturday.

The Lady Clippers pressed early, and it turned into a 37-16 lead at halftime. But a shaky third quarter closed the gap for Youngstown Christian.

Baylie Mook led all scorers with 18 points. Emily Witmer added 13 points and Aleah Whitacre had 11 for Columbiana.

Kayla Rios scored 16 points for the Lady Eagles, whose season comes to an end.

Columbiana {22-2) will play Lisbon next Wednesday at Mineral Ridge High School. The district semifinal gets underway at 7 p.m.
