CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) — For those who knew him, Michael “Mickey” Saroka’s death was a catalyst to give back to area students.
Three years ago, the Mickey Saroka Charitable Foundation was formed. Its purpose is to help provide Campbell students with scholarships, school supplies and among other things.
A pancake breakfast was held Sunday morning to raise money for the charity.
Soroka’s sister said the foundation is a way to keep her brother’s spirit alive.
“He helped adults, helped peers, he helped neighbors. So by reaching out to everybody we were actually keeping his legacy in mind,” said Denise Mote.
Their goal this year was to ensure all the kids in Campbell have supplies for the rest of the school year.
They reached their goal.
