One deer missing, one dead after Allegheny incident

One of two deer stranded on the frozen Allegheny River earlier Monday has drowned, and the location of the other is uncertain, according to the Parker, Pa., fire chief.

Responders found the deer Monday morning and said they were pacing around, looking for a way out. The ice was too unstable to attempt a rescue.

“There’s no way they can get off there, unless you got a way to helicopter them out there, there’s nothing you can do for them,” said local resident Ryan Kemery.
