YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Bond has been set for the three people indicted in connection with the drug overdose death of a Boardman teenager.
Ruben Best, 20, of Warren, along with Marijo Mazon, 46, and Gary Hartman, 24, both of Boardman, appeared in front of a magistrate Tuesday morning in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court facing drug charges. Best and Hartman are also facing reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter charges in connection to the September overdose death of 18-year-old Erin Trell.
The suspects are charged with providing drugs to Trell during an evening of drug use with her friend, according to authorities.
Investigators say the victim eventually overdosed on a combination of drugs including marijuana, Xanax and cocaine.
Bond for Best and Hartman was set at $125,000. Mazon’s bond was set at $70,000.
All three suspects were secretly indicted last week by a Mahoning County grand jury. The eight-count indictment charges the trio supplied Trell with the drugs and Hartman and Best “did recklessly cause the death of Erin Trell,” according to the indictment.
A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for March 4 at 9 a.m.
