Contractor injured at GM complex

Ambulance emergency

LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A contract worker who was disassembling an obsolete press outside of the General Motors West metal center was injured around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

GM Lordstown spokesman Tom Mock said the press had been moved outside for the work and he did not know how the accident occurred or the name of the company the victim worked for.

Mock said the Lordstown police and fire departments responded to the scene. The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center with what emergency personnel described as “crush injuries.”

Mock said GM is cooperating with the investigation and the work has been suspended pending an investigation.

The victim’s name and condition has not been released.
