Pa. apartments under construction burns to ground

SINKING SPRING, Pa. (AP) – A three-alarm fire has leveled an apartment building under construction in eastern Pennsylvania.

Emergency officials in Lower Heidelberg Township said the blaze broke out around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Legacy at the Papermill complex. The building was going to be apartments for people age 55 and over.

Firefighters said the three-story building, consisting of just plywood and studs, burned to the ground.

It’s not yet known what caused the fire. The building is now a total loss, with damage estimated around $2 million.
