Man injured in New Castle fire

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) – One man was injured late Friday when his house caught fire.

New Castle Township fire crews were called about 9:15 p.m. to 1421 Wilson Ave. for reports of a house fire.

They arrived to find smoke billowing from the single-structure wood-frame home.

Inside the house, crews found a 61-year-old man laying on the floor. He was pulled from the house and taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is not known at this time.

The man’s mother, who also lives in the house, was next door at the time of the fire.

Officials believe the blaze started in a truck that was parked under a carport attached to the house. Damage is estimated at about $70,000.

Crews were on the scene for about two hours.
