Stores busy with pre-storm customers

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The mild temperatures on Saturday may lead some to believe spring may be around the corner, but customers at local supermarkets know Mother Nature better than that.

Customers were lined up at the door at 8 a.m. at Sparkle Market on South Avenue. Bread, milk, and water were just some of the staples residents were picking up in case the snow expected over the next couple of days keeps them from getting out.

Manager David Bryant said they always see an influx of customers when a storm is on the way.

“I’ve been doing this a long time. Every time the storm comes, it is the same thing. People come in and buy when they think they are going to be snowed in for long periods of time,” said Bryant. “They buy a lot of different things.”

Bryant said customers are also stocking up on rock salt. Sparkle doesn’t have much left and is one of the few stores in town that have any at all.
