Local church organizes carnival to feed the hungry

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A local church hosted a kid-friendly fundraiser in an attempt to help feed the hungry.

Zion Lutheran Church’s Sunday school held its second annual family carnival for God’s Global Barnyard on Sunday, which is part of the Lutheran World Relief.

Kids and adults played games and enjoyed food and each other’s company.

Last year’s festival brought in more than $1,000, and Pastor Duane Jesse hopes this year they can double it.

“It’s an opportunity for us to get together as the church family with all generations, to have some fun, and to goof around and to raise some money for a good cause. All the proceeds from this carnival go to out ELCA Dod’s Backyard Ministry, it’s a serving the hungry ministry,” said Jesse.

Jesse said that the event will be brought back year after year because of its success.
