New fire station opens on South Side

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Youngstown firefighters will be moving into their new fire station on East Midlothian this week.

The ribbon cutting for Fire Station Number 9 will be held on Wednesday.

The new station is in the 1600 block of East Midlothian. It is 4,800 square feet and cost just under $1 million to build.

It replaces a station from the 1930s at Midlothian and Sheridan that needed major repairs.

The chief said the new station is also in a better location for responding to calls.
