No charges in fatal shooting of Ohio boy, 8

CINCINNATI (AP) – A prosecutor’s spokeswoman says no charges will be filed in the fatal shooting of an 8-year-old Cincinnati boy who police say was killed while one of his brothers was playing with a loaded gun he thought was a BB gun.

Spokeswoman Julie Wilson said Tuesday that prosecutors determined no charges were appropriate against the children or any adult.

Police say 8-year-old Sammy Lorenzo was shot in the chest Saturday while the boy and his two brothers were visiting their uncle.

Police said the boys found the loaded handgun and one pulled the trigger, striking the 8-year-old. The boy later died at a hospital.

Cincinnati police Lt. Don Luck said the shooting was sad and that one brother “kept telling the story of how it happened, over and over again.”
