Man’s sister jailed over comment in Ohio courtroom

Court murder investigation

CINCINNATI (AP) – A comment by a Cincinnati woman overheard after her brother’s court hearing got her jailed for 30 days by a judge who pronounced her an “animal.”

Rhonda Bailey was sent to jail Tuesday by the same judge that sentenced her brother Harry Bailey to 24 years in prison for robbing and assaulting a developmentally disabled woman who was his neighbor in an apartment building.

The Cincinnati Enquirer (http://bit.ly/1cBlPKd ) reports that Rhonda Bailey, when she was leaving the courtroom, made a derogatory comment about the victim to the victim’s father, which was overheard by a Cincinnati police officer.

The 46-year-old woman was escorted back into the courtroom.

In sentencing Rhonda Bailey to 30 days for contempt, Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Ruehlman told her: “You’re an animal, just like your brother.”
